YANG YEN NANG

Yen Nang, Yang (b.1950, Taiwan)

The painting style of Yen-Nang Yang that came from realism to semi-abstract gradually can be observed. Usually being inspired by nature, Yang intentionally transforms a fusion of nature and spirit into his art language which becomes one of the two main characteristics of his art, and another is to intuitively transform his sense of the external world into a pure feeling. Rather than just being a composition of the stacks of pigment, Yang's art is a reflection that he is a sincere, honest, and modest person. The thick style of his painting is unique. He expresses an infinite view of a wide stretch of land, which reminds the audience of works of the Russian artist Ilya Yafimovich Repin with an imagination of stepping on the solid land by themselves. Yang said, "a simple life makes a happy life," which attitude can be seen in his paintings composed of a simple, square, powerful style that triggers the audience's pleasant feelings.
